After a year since playing in Los Angeles, world-renowned DJ Sharam performed Saturday to a packed house at the Avalon in Hollywood. The occasion was for the weekly Avaland event, which is thrown by Giant and features some of the best artists in Electronic Dance Music from around the world.
The Avalon is located off of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine St. across from the iconic Capital Records building. The venue has a Spanish colonial style to that scream recals old Hollywood. Along with the fabulous setting were multiple bars for the many thirsty guests in attendance.
Playing along side Sharam were the Architects of Sound, who opened up the night with a great set of progressive house that had the crowed moving until Sharam finally took to the stage at around 2 a.m.
Much like his performance at Love Festival, Sharam had the same visual experience, but this time with images of Hot Rods speeding down a highway along with the name of his new EP, Mach 1 and 2, flashing across the screen. The lighting set up was hands down amazing featuring LED's across the ceiling and the back of the DJ booth. Not only was the lighting amazing, but the lazers that shot off gave the feeling of a bunch of fingers reaching out to touch you, one of the best parts of the whole night.
Sharam's set started out with some of his newer work like "M.I.T.T." and "One Night." Many of the new tracks he played had a more progressive house feel than his previous work on "Get Wild" but he was able to mix everything seamlessly with no hiccups. Some other notable tracks performed were his remix of the FIFA World Cup official song "Waka Waka" by Shakira as well as his hit "P.A.T.T (Party All The Time)."
Sharam played for about 3 to 4 hours, mixing in all of the tracks that have made him famous, as well as the more underground tracks. If you have a favorite DJ and want to see a great performance by them, there's no better way to do it that to see them at a Club because you actually get a decent set length that in the end, is an amazing experience.
