Congressman can’t keep mouth shut

Another memorable  speech has been added to the list. Not because the content of the speech was amazing or memorable but for the insult that was yelled out during it. On Wednesday Sept. 9 President Barack Obama spoke at the House and Senate session of congress, at which Obama was addressing several issues and a congressman yelled out
"you lie."

When President Obama was addressing the issue on universal health care. "The reform I am proposing would not apply to those who are illegal," said Obama, in
which Congressman Joe Wilson from South Carolina yelled out "you lie". This comment was all over the news soon after and is now what is remembered from the speech. Wilson apologized soon after stating that it was not the proper place to express his option.

Everyone has the right to an opinion but it is a matter of how you choose to express it and where. Wilson's outburst was uncalled for, but he did have a purpose in expressing it. Obama has not kept to the promises he made when he
was campaigning.

The troops in Iraq supposedly would be coming home, but it has been months and troops have not been pulled out of the war and arriving home. It is the exact opposite; troops are still being sent to Iraq.

The slogan for his campaign "change we can believe in" is great if it helps everyone. The change that he was talking about,  improving everything, were is it? Nothing seems to be getting better, it will be a year of him being in office soon and what significant changes can be shown for it, nothing.

Wilson's comment was indeed inappropriate for the situation and place he was in. Congress is there to listen and decided what they will vote or not vote when it comes time, not to give outbursts. His rebellious comment was rude, immature and made the Republican party look idiotic. He poorly represented them with his comment. It only took two words to change the entire mood in the convention and it was disrespectful to the President.

However, I fully support his opinion even though I was surprised by his crude comment. He apologized to Obama himself on Wednesday but the White House is now stating that he needs to formally apologize to the house. " I will not apologize again", Wilson said. He feels that he does not need to apologize another time because he already apologized to
the President.

But he didn't just disrespect the President; he disrespected everyone who was there especially those that are in the Republican party. He should represent his party in the proper manner, by formally apologizing to  for this issue to dissipate.
