The Board of Trustees has appointed Dean of Technology and Engineering, Scott McKenzie, as interim vice president of instruction at its meeting last Tuesday, Jan. 26
McKenzie will serve in this new position through July 2011, allowing time for a hiring committee to screen applicants for the position and the president to hire a permanent vice president of instruction.
“I was really excited about accepting this position and the new challenges that come with it,” McKenzie said. “ I plan to make a few subtle changes in the way business is conducted between the deans during my time as vice president.”
McKenzie has been with Fullerton College since 1985 and has been heavily involved in the machine technology department. Starting as an instructor, he eventually held such positions as machine tool department coordinator, manufacturing department coordinator, assistant to the division dean, and then in 2006 was named dean of technology and engineering.
“It was a tough decision to decide who would be vice president, but Scott McKenzie has great communication skills, attention to detail and works well with the deans as well having all of the job qualifications for the position of vice president of instruction,” said interim president Dr. Sam Schauerman.
McKenzie is filling in the vacancy left by previous Vice President of Instruction Larry Buckley after he took a similar position at San Bernardino Valley College. Mark Greenhalgh, dean of mathematics & computer sciences, will be assisting in fulfilling McKenzie’s duties as interim dean of technology and engineering.
