Operation Career Launch 2009 is set to take place at Fullerton College on Thursday Oct. 22.

This new full-day event will help students and members of the community discover the different career technical education fields which are offered at FC.

“Career Technical Education offers students the chance at a
great paying career they love, without the cost and time commitment of a four-year degree,” said Rebecca Morgan, Fullerton College Career Technical Education Counselor.

Operation Career Launch will kick off with a seminar at 10:30 a.m. in the Wilshire Auditorium with speakers such as California Community Colleges President of the Board of Governors, Dr. Lance Izumi and Chancellor, Dr. Jack Scott, Brigadier General Arnold Gordon-Bray and Brigadier General Michael Garrett.

The seminar will discuss the vital role, the lack of, and useful strategies to improve a stronger future for career technical education graduates in America.

At 1 p.m., there will be an open house and career fair with many different activities that everyone can take part in to help teach more about specific technical careers.

There are many different exhibitors that will be taking part in the open house and career fair including Anderson Bat, Disney Productions, the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce, The Gas Company, and the United States Army.

Some of the activities that will be included in the open house and career fair are an Apache Helicopter flight simulator, a Guitar Hero competition, a robotics obstacle course, a 24 foot rock-climbing wall, performances by the L.A. Sparks Ole Skool Crew, and complementary massages by Fullerton College’s Message Therapy Department.

The open house and career fair will be held in Fullerton College’s quad and will last until about 6 p.m.

Operation Career Launch is completely free to participate in and offers free parking on campus during the hours of the event.

To make it even more worth while, the operation career launch website offers a list of professors at FC that are offering extra credit for students who attend and participate in the on campus event.

There is limited amount of space available in the seminar so everyone who wishes to participate will need to RSVP with Morgan by calling (714) 992-7257 or emailing OCL09@yahoo.com.
