The three-day event called Furlough Fest started yesterday at the Becker Amphitheater at Cal State Fullerton.

Furlough Fest is a free event where students can come to school during their days off to participiate in workshops with music, activities, discussions, camping, outdoor film screenings, and food.

"Furlough Fest is a place for people to come and hang out, make new friends, and to protest to the man," CSUF student Aaron Gilman said.

The event is set up to where students can protest the CSU budget cuts which is explained as "fun, creative, and communal resistance to corporatized education" by the Facebook page that is set up by the festivial leaders who wish to be unnamed.

Furlough Fest is open to everyone, not just CSUF students, to come and support the cause and may also come and set up any sort of workshop that they feel would be appropriate and do not have to tell anyone that they are going to.

A successful workshop that was held yesterday was the sex talk, where students sat around and discussed methods of sex and how toys can be properly used.

One student in the conversation explained how students asked him how many times he had sex this week with the end of that conversation talking about different ways to enjoy intercourse and toys that can be used.

Another cleaner workshop at the event on Wednesday was the poetry reading, with a handful of people sitting around in the shade sharing poetry that has moved or touched them.

Other workshops that are on the flexible agenda for today and tomorrow are Zapatismo & Marginalized Communities, The Coming Insurrection, Evan's Big Chill (aka Evan's Big Tea House), as well as a writing development workshop where students can help each other with their writing skills.

DJ Costa started off the music portion of the festival with Alan Lewis, Audacity, AM, Pizza Party, and Auditory Aphasia, Casket Salesmen ending the day.

Many more bands and DJ's will be performing in the Becker Amphitheater for the event such as The Rye Douglas Band, Koko Was Here, Tandollar, Wonderwheel, Bomb Awesome, and The Rambles.

The festival leaders are also asking for more bands and DJ's that would be interested in playing in the event to sign up and entertain furlough supporters by emailing helsquiades@gmail.com.

Activities that will be held with no specific time at the event will be dodgeball, hide and seek, and a book redistribution, where anyone can bring and take books that they would be interested in reading or sharing.

People will also be camping out at the Becker Amphitheater for the duration of the event with tents and other camping gear and if anyone else is interested in camping out on campus are asked to bring their own camping gear or to find a friend that they would be able to share with.
