After taking recruiting trips to Wyoming and Middle Tennessee, Fullerton College's talented and speedy wide receiver Darryl Shine (5-foot-10, 175 pounds) signed his letter of intent with Temple University earlier this morning on national signing day.
"I wanted to get back on the east coast, it's an easier trip for my family to come out and see me play," Shine said. "I really wanted to play ball out on the east coast, the city was really nice and I believe Head Coach Al Golden has a great program."
This past season, Shine was the Hornets' go-to receiver finishing the season with 548 yards on 34 receptions and three touchdowns. Shine is looking to make an immediate impact for the Owls, who finished 9-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
"I want to try and help the team win a Mid-American Conference championship, and hopefully get to a bowl game," Shine said.
Also making his choice of school was FC Offensive Lineman John Cullen. The Hornets tackle was ranked No. 5 in the country in community college football by Rivals.com. Some of the schools that were pursuing Cullen were USC, Tennessee and Oklahoma but in the end he decided to sign with Utah.
"Utah was the school that I felt most comfortable with," Cullen said. "Their coaching staff and schemes just fit me."
Defensive end Joel Bonomolo signed his letter of intent with the University of Auburn. Bonomolo was also listed on Rivals.com's list of top 50 players in the country. Bonomolo finished the 2009 campaign with 13 tackles, five for losses, and three sacks.
"The main thing that made me choose Auburn was the opportunity," Bonomolo said. "I expect to get there and make an impact like I did at Fullerton College. My main goal is to get to the NFL and I think that by going to Auburn I will have a good chance of doing that."
