The Hornets battled the Rustlers but came up short in the end, 4-2.

The Hornets (0-4-1) would score early, only to lose the lead and the game to an aggressive Golden West (4-3) offense Tuesday afternoon.

“They’re gonna come,” said Fullerton head coach Alex Perez, “and it’s going to be within the first 15 min.”

Fullerton would strike first with a penalty kick in the 5th min after Pablo Venegas was fouled hard by the goalie.

Golden West College came back with goals of their own in the 11th and 15th minutes to take an early lead away from the Hornets.

Fullerton would tie up the ball game with two long passes and a hard shot by Fernando Sanchez that would bounce off but posts and in. The Hornets went into the half with a 2-2 tie.

“We have to stick to our gameplan,” Perez said. “If we stick to that, we should be ok.”

Fullerton came out of halftime sluggish and gave up two quick goals in the second half. The Rustlers then played keep away for the rest of the second half on their way to a victory.

Fullerton forward Bryan Bautista believes that if they play like they did in the first half, they will show great improvement in the future.

Fullerton takes on Irvine Valley College Friday, in a match that can possibly turn their season around.
