Concert-goers rushed into the Roxy Theatre seeking shelter from last Tuesday's unrelenting storm. It was a miserable sight of chattering teeth and squeaking boots, until the music began.

The rock band "Mae," along with three other bands turned the soggy venue into a toe-tapping Tuesday-night karaoke with a plethora of alternative rock hits.

Wes Blaylock's falsetto resonated through the room sending chills down the spines of listeners while the subtle use of the synthesizer courtesy of Laura Blaylock brought another dimension to opening band Deas Vail.

Alternative rock band Blueskyreality took the stage next with their various genre-spanning music. Having just recently toured with Third Eye Blind, vocalist Zac Stucchi said it felt good to be in their hometown of Los Angeles.

"I really came here for Mae, but [Blueskyreality] definitely attracted myself as a new fan. They seem to be having fun playing up there," said concert-goer Rita Henderson.

After picking up dance steam during the Locksley's Brit-pop influenced tunes, it was finally time for Mae to pick up their instruments and close the night.

"Summertime" had the crowd jumping in their wet socks and singing indifferently out of key while vocalist Dave Elkins took requests shouted out from the crowd; "Tisbury Lane" and "The Breakfast Song."

"It was really refreshing to hear Mae again. The rain was a bit of a downer but I'm glad that at least [Mae] played some of their old hits," said concert-goer Matt Ho.

Despite the torrential flooding on Sunset Boulevard, the good music of Mae brought a bunch of people together to sing, dance and smile like sunshine.
