I love magazines. Opening a new, shiny magazine is like waking up on Christmas morning to a mountain of presents. I even like the way they smell. The problem with my fetish is that I have a hard time throwing them away. Because of this, one corner of my bedroom is dedicated to housing old issues of Marie Claire, Vogue, and Cosmopolitan.

Oh boy! Another cliché letter to the editor with a lousy opening, easily refutable content, and an impractical solution proposal - this time written by a professor. Jackpot!

After watching last year's team of editors deal with the incident of a freelance cartoonist plagiarizing one of his cartoons for the Mustang Daily, we hoped to begin this year with a fresh slate. Sadly, plagiarism has come to haunt the Daily again. And again, we're apologizing to you, our readers, for unknowingly publishing plagiarized material.

On July 1, California's long-debated ban on the use of handheld cell phones while driving went into effect. So many motorists are guilty of this - many of us have been stuck behind a crazy driver only to discover, in passing, that he or she is on the phone.
Using a cell phone while behind the wheel severely impairs your driving. A study at the University of Utah concluded that people were just as impaired when they drive while talking on a cell phone as they were with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent, which is the legal limit.
Therefore, the rationale for the ban seems reasonable. But while well-intentioned, this law ultimately doesn't make the roads any safer. In fact, it misses the point so completely that it may make the problem worse by lulling chatty motorists into a false sense of security.

Arrogant, rich elitist, country clubber and most of all, snide.
Who does that describe? Scooter Libby, President George W. Bush, both Clintons? Well, according to Karl Rove, none of them.
It describes Sen. Barack Obama.
